Since the beginning of Epic, we have worked with partners in Antigua, Guatemala, to serve the people surrounding Antigua. The area is in the picturesque highlands of Guatemala and has a rich, Mayan heritage. Antigua is a beautiful colonial town.
In the communities surrounding Antigua, poverty is widespread. In Guatemala, 75% of the population lives below the country’s poverty line and more than half of the population lives in extreme poverty. Guatemala experienced a 36-year civil war (1960-1996) at the end of the 20th century and still faces significant social problems.
We are partnering with TREE Ministries and El Club for two mission trips this year to help meet people’s physical and spiritual needs.
